Examining the United States in the 21st century, particularly 2008–2016, this book analyzes adaptations and appropriations of Othello across film, television, performance, and digital media. It argues that these reanimations create competing racial frameworks, sustaining both antiblack and antiracist narratives while challenging claims of a “post-racial” society.
